Motorola has officially announced the Razr 40-series Flip smartphone in India. The series brings two 5G-enabled Flip phones- the razr 40 Ultra and the razr 40 with a nearly creaseless main display of 6.9″. The razr 40 Ultra is equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, while the razr 40 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. These devices have been unveiled at competitive prices, making them viable alternatives to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip-series foldable smartphones that have been the default choice for most consumers.

The razr 40 comes at Rs. 59,999, while the high-end razr 40 Ultra costs Rs. 89,999. Additionally, customers can enjoy discounts or cashback of up to Rs. 7,000, effectively reducing the prices to Rs. 82,999 and Rs. 54,999 respectively. Pre-bookings for the smartphones are now live, with sales commencing on July 15th. The devices will be available on popular platforms such as Amazon, Motorola’s official website (Motorola.in), Reliance Digital, and leading retail stores.

The razr 40 Ultra is touted as the thinnest flippable smartphone in the industry when flipped closed. It is also said to feature the largest external display of any flip phone. The cover/external display on the razr 40 Ultra measures 3.6” and can essentially be used to perform almost every task that one intends to do on a bigger screen. The pOLED screen is said to be fully capable of supporting multiple apps and functions even when it is closed. Users can respond to messages, take a selfie, get directions, play games, listen to music on Spotify, and even stream YouTube videos without even opening the flip screen.
The external display on the razr 40 Ultra is also the smoothest with a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate. It’s a 10-bit panel with 100% DCI-P3 support and a peak brightness of 1100 units. The external screen has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Protection. As far as the internal display is concerned, the razr 40 flaunts a 6.9″ pOLED screen with a refresh rate of 165Hz and peak brightness of 1400nits.

Design-wise, there are some big changes. Motorola promises that the new flip devices do not leave any visible crease on the screen because of its redesigned teardrop hinge. The dual-axis tracking design reduces the size of the device, thus giving both devices a slim quotient. Designed with a metal frame and a premium vegan leather option on the back, the Flip phones are easy to grip and soft to touch. The Flip phones have an IP52 Water-repellent design. Both devices run on Android 13 and come with a promise of 3 OS upgrades and 4 years of security patches.

The razr 40 ultras will be available in Viva Magenta in a premium vegan leather design, a shade that is exclusive to Motorola devices, along with the option of Infinite Black with a matte finish glass body. The less expensive Motorola razr 40 comes in a premium vegan leather finish with three color options, Sage Green, Vanilla Cream, and Summer Lilac.
