Techarc tracked every smartphone, laptop, smart TV and tablet launched in India between July and September 2026. On the surface, nothing changed: 257 variants, exactly as many as in Q2. Underneath, India’s device market was rebuilt for a different buyer.

1. Same count, fewer devices.

Brands logged 257 variants, matching Q2, but from just 144 unique models, down from 153. Every category now ships more versions of each model. Brands have found a new way to fill the shelf without launching anything new. The full report shows how far that goes, category by category.

2. The ₹70,127 smartphone average is misleading.

The average smartphone launch price nearly doubled on Q2. Strip out just three brands, though, and a very different market appears, one where the mass-market phone quietly gave something up to hold its price. What it gave up is in Section 3.

3. Laptop launch prices have more than tripled in two years.

The average laptop launch price went from ₹59,069 in Q3 2024 to ₹1,94,000 today. Nearly half of all Q3 laptop variants were gaming or high-performance machines. Between ₹50,000 and ₹75,000, where most buyers shop, there were just three.

4. One brand made the Smart TV quarter.

One brand launched 46 of the quarter’s 73 Smart TV variants, and two of the biggest names in Indian living rooms were nearly absent. That one event changed India’s panel and platform mix in a single month.

5. The entry level is emptying in every category.

Smartphone models under ₹10,000 fell to 7, Smart TVs under ₹30,000 fell to 11.3% of launches, and not a single entry-level tablet launched. The report asks who will serve India’s next first-time buyer.

6. Made in India is now about value, not just volume.

91.3% of smartphone variants launched in Q3 were locally made, including some of the most expensive phones on the shelf. The full report shows what that means for incentives, inclusion and India’s import bill.

7. Some brands are positioned to gain, and some are under pressure.

For the first time, Techarc’s launch report includes an Implications section. It reads the market conditions behind the launches and their likely direction of impact on customers, retail partners, OEMs, suppliers and government. It also names the brands best placed for the festive quarter and why.
