Premium mobile has evolved. From base and pro devices to ultra models, flips and folds, flagship experiences now come in many forms, each with its own audiences and expectations. The technologies powering our next generation of Snapdragon flagship platforms are designed to deliver leadership across them all.
Ahead of Snapdragon Summit 2026, we’re pulling back the curtain across the CPU, GPU and NPU. For this post, we’re starting with the core of the platform that sets the pace for everything else: the new Qualcomm Oryon CPU, the world’s fastest mobile CPU.
The new Oryon CPU is the first mobile CPU to reach 5GHz, and that doesn’t come from a process node alone. It comes from a fully custom design. We designed the microarchitecture, the implementation choices behind it and the CPU subsystem around it, so every part is ours to tune. Tuning it all together is what allows us to reach 5GHz within the constraints of a mobile chipset.
Clock speed isn’t the only key to our incredible CPU performance. That speed is paired with exceptional instructions per clock, or IPC, so the performance shows up in real-world use cases. Apps open the instant you tap them, web experiences are responsive, and demanding workloads like gaming and content creation keep up with the user. It also matters for agentic AI, where the CPU orchestrates the work behind every request.
Cache plays a huge role in IPC. Agents plan and call tools. Games maintain huge worlds. Multitasking keeps a dozen processes alive at once. All of it moves large working sets, and all of it stalls when the CPU looks for data it doesn’t have close at hand. The Oryon CPU is the world’s fastest mobile CPU, but that speed only shows up if the cores have what they need when they need it.
Our unique cache hierarchy is a huge part of what makes Oryon such a powerful CPU. A large L1 instruction cache in each core keeps the CPU from wasting cycles, and our L2 cache sits directly in the CPU complex to keep this large pool right next to the cores.
The Oryon CPU architecture was designed to be a scalable platform that can be implemented to optimize performance and efficiency for every device. With the next-generation premium mobile platform, we are introducing a new cache architecture to further tailor the CPU experience. Qualcomm Oryon FlexCache allows heterogeneous cores to access the same cache pool, with cache dynamically allocated based on workload.
With FlexCache, Prime cores can draw on the entire pool when a workload demands it. Larger working sets stay resident instead of spilling to memory, so peak performance holds instead of tapering off the moment a task outgrows its share.
This matters more than ever with memory constraints across industry. FlexCache reduces how often the cores need to reach system memory, so performance holds up even when memory is limited.
What you ask your phone to do is no longer a single task. It is a request that turns into a plan, and that plan moves across the entire CPU. A 5GHz Oryon CPU sets the pace, and FlexCache keeps every core fed as the work moves between them.
